 Nicholas A. Podkowirow, DPM

Dr. Nicholas Podkowirow joined the Lake Zurich Foot Clinic staff full time in July 2019. Dr. Nick earned his Bachelors Degree at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida where he focused on both Biology and Chemistry. He is also fluent in Spanish. He earned his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and completed his residency at Norwegian American Hospital in Chicago, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. Dr. Podkowirow has extensive expertise in sports medicine, foot and ankle surgery, arthroscopic surgery, diabetic foot care, general foot care, bio-mechanics and orthotic prescribing, dermatology, and wound care. Dr. Nick is an avid runner, triathlete, volleyball player, and enjoys the outdoors.

Daniel P. Hare, DPM

Dr. Daniel Hare joined the Lake Zurich Foot Clinic staff in July 2017. Dr. Hare attended the University of Illinois Chicago as an undergrad where he was on the swim team. Dr. Hare earned his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Rosalind Franklin University of Science and Medicine and completed his residency at Norwegian American Hospital, where he was Chief Resident during his third year. He has expertise in all areas of podiatric medicine and he offers new and innovative treatments for a variety of podiatric conditions. In his free time, he enjoys sports, swimming, playing piano, and spending time with his wife and two children.

Serena Mulroe


Office Manager


Serena has been with our office since December 2020. She transitioned to the role of office manager in May of 2023. Serena combines efficiency and a knack for organization to keep things running smoothly. When she's not managing the office, she indulges in her love for baking, cooking, and enjoying movies.


Sharon Hernandez


Medical Assistant


Sharon joined the Lake Zurich Foot Clinic in 1993. She has held a number of roles over the years, upholding the standard of care for patients and supporting the day-to-day function of the office. She is passionate about making sure patients have a positive experience each time they come in. In her free time, Sharon enjoys baking, solving puzzles, listening to music, and spending time with her family.

Maria Karaindrou


Medical Assistant


Maria joined the Lake Zurich Foot Clinic staff in June 2023. Originally from Athens, Greece, she holds certifications in Aesthetics, Laser and Medical Assisting from the Academy of International Skin and Beauty. Maria is dedicated to continuing her education to provide the highest quality of care by pursuing an Associates of Science in Surgical Technology at Harper College. Beyond the clinic, she enjoys the outdoors, concerts, festivals and travel.

Kristin Happel


Office  Consultant


Kristin has been with the practice since 1996, and retired as the practice manager in June of 2023, becoming the practice consultant at the time. She recently started working a few days a month in the office again, because she missed the daily interaction with our wonderful patients, doctors, and staff. In her free time, she likes to travel with her husband, cook, and play word games.
